EPA says Lyndhurst concerns will be heard
A community action group fears not all public submissions and health concerns about a planned soil processing plant in Lyndhurst will be heard at a conference.
Residents Against Toxic Waste in the South East (RATWISE) was looking forward to having its say at an independent planning panel about SITA’s proposal for the treatment plant.
The waste management operator plans to designate 3ha of the Taylors Rd landfill site to treat different types of soil.
The EPA has received about 300 submissions for the conference.
Last year SITA state general manager Daniel Fyfe assured residents they could have their say at the conference.
“There’s more than ample opportunity for people to exercise their right to make a submission and be heard,” Mr Fyfe said.
RATWISE member Thelma Wakelam said the group had requested all submissions be placed on the EPA website.
The EPA told Leader it would discuss the format of the conference with all interested parties and design a process to allow everyone with a point of view to have a say.
