Trailer Trash the next step for basketballer David Ingham

Former National Basketball League player and coach David Ingham is cleaning up with his new business.

In February, he opened South Australia's first Trailer Trash franchise, which provides trailer-mounted skip bins to get rid of garbage and waste from building sites, commercial businesses and residences.

Having worked as a basketball coach overseas, Mr Ingham was keen to bring his young family home to Adelaide and start his own business.

"In basketball coaching ... you are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and you will do anything to be successful," he said.

"One of the reasons I got into business was so I could give it my undivided attention and passion."

Launched in Melbourne in 2006, Trailer Trash has franchises in Queensland, NSW and Western Australia. Mr Ingham said the company offered customers a convenient way to remove rubbish and waste.

"I have some customers where I park in a laneway, they fill the skip up and I drive away," he said. "For people in high-rise apartments, the skip can easily fit in a basement carpark. The skip is on a trailer so it's a registered vehicle and if you want to put it on the street, you don't need to get a council permit."

Trailer Trash aims to operate more franchises in SA.

"This business gives me the flexibility to work hard and be able to adapt my daily program so I can spend some time with my young kids," he said.

"We have an excellent internet system which enables me to keep track of all my trailers and it gives me franchise reports on demand. Trailer Trash is still a small company and the owners are managers so, just like me, they care about the company and want it to grow."
