Register for Clean Up Australia Day
Residents are being encouraged to register for the annual Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, March 6.
Hornsby Council waste management officer Amanda Watson urged residents, community groups, schools and businesses to clean up together on the 21st anniversary of the community clean-up day.
“Why not bring a picnic and make a day of it?” Ms Watson said.
“There’s a park, street, waterway or bushland area near all of us that could do with a spruce-up.
In 2010, more than 283 Hornsby Shire residents helped remove rubbish, tyres, car body parts, pallets, sofas and mattresses from 74 sites.
Clean Up Australia Day chairman Ian Kiernan said: “Every individual can make a difference to the health of our environment.”
