Diggers Rest talks trash
On Saturday, householders around the town will be selling unwanted furniture, books and clothes from in front of their homes.
The event is organised by the Lions Club, with member Charlie Watson saying many residents are keen on some good old-fashioned spring cleaning. "We've got a good 30 people or more signed up."
He hopes shoppers will visit from outside the local area, adding that it's good timing in the lead-up to Christmas.
"My wife says it's a good way to get rid of the junk. But, really, it's turning unwanted goods into cash."
Bargain hunters can call into the old school on the Calder Highway between 8am and 4pm to pick up a map showing the addresses of the various garage sales. There is a $10 fee, with money going back into the community. There will also be market stalls at the Houdini Park in town.
